Kambo Peptide Therapy
What is Kambo?
Kambo, also known as "sapo" or "frog medicine," is a traditional healing ritual originating from the indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest, particularly the Matsés people of Brazil and Peru. It involves the application of a secretion from the skin of the giant leaf frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor) onto small burns or open wounds on the person receiving the treatment. This giant leaf frog is a fascinating amphibian with purported medicinal and cleansing properties.
Kambo, the ancient Amazonian remedy, offers a natural and transformative path to well-being.
The frog secretion contains peptides and bioactive compounds believed to have medicinal properties, used traditionally for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. The main active component, phyllomedusin, acts as a powerful body stimulant.
Kambo is a potent and powerful holistic modality that can be used to achieve optimal wellness.
What are the Benefits of Kambo?
-
Detoxification.
Kambo is known as a fire medicine, the experience activates a heat reaction within the body. Kambo is believed to cleanse the body by removing toxins, which can lead to improved liver and kidney function.
-
Enhanced Immune Function.
The peptides in Kambo are thought to boost the immune system, potentially increasing resistance to infections and illnesses. Human cells open themselves up to the beneficial properties of Kambo, recognizing the biopeptides as helpers and using them efficiently unlike many substances that are filtered and eliminated by the body’s highly intelligent defense system.
-
Mental Clarity and Emotional Healing.
Many users report enhanced mental clarity, reduced anxiety, and relief from depression, attributing these effects to the emotional and spiritual aspects of the Kambo ritual. The purge is symbolic of letting go of what no longer serves you, which can be energetic, emotional, spiritual (clearing panema or energetic/emotional/spiritual illness), and the release of physical bodily toxins.
What to Expect
You will adhere to a strict fasting protocol, refraining from food for 7 hours before the ceremony. The therapeutic peptides from Kambo are absorbed through a topical application. A superficial burn will be made on the top two layers of skin using a healing incense. For newcomers, the burn site is typically on the ankle or arm, while experienced participants can consult with their practitioner for specific designs and areas.
Before applying Kambo, you will consume 3/4 of a liter of clean, filtered water with a pH of 7, provided for you (alkaline water should be avoided). After drinking the water, Kambo will be applied to the burn sites, with a 5-minute test point for first-timers. The entire session lasts about 20 minutes.
While the Kambo is applied, you may experience a warm flush, tingling, shaking, sweating, nausea, or an elevated heart rate—these are all normal reactions. A purge, either through vomiting or other means, is common but not necessary.
What is the “Purge?”
The purge is a response to the influx of bioactive peptides from Kambo, particularly phyllomedusin and phyllokinin, which can cause nausea and gut movement. This reaction may lead to vomiting or other forms of purging. Some participants seek to enhance the purge by taking small sips of distilled water while under the medicine to enhance the release of physical bodily toxins.
After approximately 20 minutes the Kambo is removed and the physical effects stop almost immediately.
Honoring this Sacred Medicine
Honoring the sacred medicine of Kambo with a ceremony is a profound journey of healing and transformation.
The ceremony begins with a Sananga ritual, where powerful eye drops cleanse and prepare the mind and body, enhancing spiritual vision. This is followed by the application of Kambo, where therapeutic peptides facilitate deep physical, emotional, and spiritual purification.
To close the space, a Rapé ceremony is conducted, grounding participants and sealing the healing energies. Together, these sacred medicines create a holistic experience, honoring ancient traditions and fostering profound inner growth.
Group Kambo Ceremonies are offered one Saturday morning of the month with a maximum of ten participants.
